Last month, we wrote about an incident in Adams Morgan where two cyclists, Ian Barry and Saul Leiken, were involved in a late-night collision with a driver at the intersection of 18th Street and Columbia Road NW that led to Leiken being beaten. Police have now arrested the man who allegedly hit Barry.

After a confrontation between Barry and the driver of a red Camaro on May 27, the passengers of that car chased down Leiken as he recorded the car’s plate information and tried to call the police, forcing him to the ground and kicking him in the head several times, before they were chased off by a bystander with a taser gun. Rend Smith reports this morning that D.C. police picked up 23-year-old Maryland resident Demarcus Boulware on assault charges stemming from the initial collision, thanks to Leiken’s recording of the car’s license plate and with the help of a photograph on Boulware’s Facebook page.

Boulware has pled not guilty to the charge of simple assault.
