UPDATE (10:30 a.m.): The scene is all clear, and people are now being allowed back inside buildings in the area.
Police are reportedly investigating a bomb threat at the Canadian Embassy at 501 Pennsylvania Avenue NW this morning. Emergency crews have located the suspicious package in question and have blocked off portions of Pennsylvania Avenue. Residents at the nearby Newseum residences — the apartment complex attached to the museum of the same name — have been ordered by police to evacuate their residences due to the bomb threat. After the tragic incidents in Norway on Friday, it’s easy to imagine that authorities in the District may be on slightly higher alert today — we’ll keep an eye on the situation and will update when more information is available.
