Harriet Tregoning, the Director of the District’s Office of Planning, was struck by a car while riding her bicycle to work this morning. Fortunately, she came out of it without injury.

“Ok, it finally happened,” wrote Tregoning on her Twitter account this morning, “Hit by a red-light running car on my bike. I am okay, but Brompton…not so rideable.” (Brompton, of course, referring to the brand of foldable bike that Tregoning rides around town.) In later tweets, Tregoning said that her “bike took the brunt” and that she was “very relieved it wasn’t worse. …Even as a ped[estrian], it would have been bad.”

On the plus side, Tregoning was able to maintain a sense of humor about the situation, saying that she asked the Maryland driver who hit her to “never to run a red light in DC again.”

“And fix my bike!” she added.
