The Post’s pop music blog, Click Track, has an interesting series in which they ask prominent Washingtonians what’s on their playlists. Today’s subject is Ward 6 Councilmember Tommy Wells — and the man with the can of Steel Reserve on his desk who oversees the uber-hip H Street corridor has sparked some criticism over the supposed lameness of his selections, which include prominent cuts from Simon and Garfunkel, Blue Oyster Cult, Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Doors, among others. (Eddie Rabbit and Carly Simon appear to be the choices landing Wells the most flak.)
If I may though, I’d like to take a brief moment to defend Wells — who is, after all, 54 years old, and admitted that the tunes he listens to at work are “songs from [his] youth.” I mean, were people expecting the Councilman to be a big Odd Future fan, or what?
