It’s tough being a Washington Redskins fan these days.

The owner — though not quite as terrible as others who have run the team in the past — is embroiled in a lawsuit against a local alternative newspaper. On the field, the team is about to entrust its hopes of making the playoffs for the first time since 2006 to either a guy who has far too much optimism or a guy who has already begun to ignore the inevitable media criticism. The team continues to insist that there is a massive waiting list for season tickets, despite the fact that they’re constantly selling packages and single-game tickets are readily available at face value. The team’s official announcers hate fun. Hell, even an art gallery owned by the team’s star tight end are getting robbed.

But at least attendees at FedEx Field will be able soak up this fall’s sorrows with a delicious Ben’s chili half-smoke!

As first reported by the estimable Dan Steinberg, Ben’s will be setting up shop inside FedEx Field this season, opening up two kiosks inside the cavernous stadium. Steinberg reports that the kiosks will be located outside sections 341 and 420 and will offer a wide range of the chili products which have made Ben’s a household name.

Ben’s has been ramping up expansion efforts over the last year and a half — so it’s not surprising that they’d be reaching out to grab some more of the sports audience, much like they did when they moved into Nationals Park.
