The National Cathedral isn’t the only thing taking a beating thanks to the ferocity of a deluge which caught many by surprise — the District’s drivers are also having a rough go of it.

As inches of rain have coated the D.C. area over the last few hours, several major highways and bridges have experienced flooding, including the Capital Beltway, the Southeast/Southwest Freeway and the 14th Street Bridge — the latter of which has now reportedly been shut down to traffic.

All told, you might want to think about staying out of your car if at all possible until things clear up a little bit out there.
