Last year we reported the U.K. kaiten (conveyor belt) sushi chain YO!Sushi would be expanding their concept to Chicago and D.C. They recently announced that their first D.C. location will open in Union Station across from Chipotle in early 2012.
Conveyor belt sushi seems to have found fairly limited success in D.C. with Sushi Go Round in Gallery Place, and the move by Wasabi Sushi owner Bo Davis away from standalone store fronts to malls. But perhaps for a restaurant starved area like Union Station it would make a welcome addition, and would offer solid competition to less healthy spots like Bojangles and Johnny Rockets.
