UPDATE (12:35 p.m.): Well, now the satellite’s orientation has shifted, so the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite might land in the U.S., after all. Keep calm and carry on, people.

Good news! That defunct, six-ton satellite falling from the sky? That’s now some other continent’s problem. NASA announced yesterday that, while they’re still not sure exactly where the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite will land, it certainly won’t be in North America. As it turns out, the satellite, which is expected to fall to terra firma sometime this afternoon or early evening, simply won’t be passing over the United States at the time NASA expects it to crash land.
