Photo by jaggededge27.Apparently, things in the print media industry are even worse than we thought. Patch reports that Peter Labovitz, the president and CEO of Alexandria-based Connection Newspapers, will be heading to prison after he collected thousands of dollars in payroll taxes from his employees, but failed to send the money to the IRS.
In an interesting twist, Labovitz appears to be treating the sentence as just another new-age hurdle for his print operation to overcome:
“Like all American newspapers, in recent years the Connection Newspapers have faced daunting technological and economic challenges,” said Labovitz after he pled guilty in July. “We have weathered repeated crises that killed or crippled many others in the news media. I am proud that we have kept these vital community voices alive.”
You know, because what outlet hasn’t had their CEO sentenced to jail time?
