Last year, to the bewilderment of many a west coast transplant, the District was named as the country’s most “veg-friendly” city. As it turns out, we appear to have defended that title, at least to a certain extent.

According to a survey of 4,000 Americans in the country’s top 20 media markets conducted by Mandala Research on behalf of group-coupon service LivingSocial, the District ranks as the metropolitan area with the most diners who don’t partake of meat while eating out. Of course, meat-eaters still dominate the scene — according to the survey, 38 percent of the city self-described themselves as “meat lovers,” as opposed to the eight percent of veg-head respondents.

In other fun facts, the District rated as the survey’s sixth highest-rated dining scene, behind New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston and Dallas. And Washington also ranked as the top destination for Ethiopian eats, but you probably didn’t need a survey to tell you that.
