Many a movie start this way — a newborn infant is left on someone’s doorstep, most often a loving family that nurtures the child so that it can become a well-rounded adult.
But the reality certainly isn’t so happy.
WJLA reports that a newborn girl was left on the doorstep of a Northeast home early this morning, and sadly died after having been transported to a local hospital. While a cause of death has not yet been established, WTOP reports that the baby girl was left only half-covered in temperatures that fell below freezing and was in cardiac arrest when she was taken to the hospital.
Police say they are investigating who abandoned the child, and Homicide Watch notes that they’re planning a press conference for today to provide updates.
