Attend the Framework Panel at 4:30 p.m., then the opening reception at 6 p.m., Thursday.
>> Have you ever thought of making your dreams a reality? That’s what Jacqueline Levine has done in her exhibition The Temptation opening at Flashpoint Gallery on Saturday. Taking her inspiration from her vivid dreams as well as the imagery of Hieronymous Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights and the distorted scale of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Levine has created large-scale figures that represent our struggle with the dark side and the light of our personalities and how easily we give in to our personal fears. 6 to 8 p.m.
>> In conjunction with the exhibition Franz Jantzen: Ostinato, HEMPHILL invites three photographers to discuss what they do and how they see. ART TALKS: A Conversation with Three Photographers Franz Jantzen, Bruce McKaig and Anne Rowland will take place Saturday at 10 a.m.
>> Every four years, Americans elect a president. And every four years, presidential candidates and reporters face off on the campaign trail. The Newseum will explore how media coverage of presidential campaigns has evolved from William McKinley’s 1896 front-porch campaign to Barack Obama’s 2008 Internet campaign in the exhibit, Every Four Years: Presidential Campaigns and the Press. Opening Thursday.
>> Excavate, an exhibition of new work by artists Rosemary Feit Covey and Laurel Hausler will open at Morton Fine Art on Friday. The artists both use techniques and processes where they work to reveal their work through carving and layers. The intriguing processes and their respective results are raw and speak to the subconscious. Opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m.
