Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.)

Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) has recently gotten up in D.C.’s business, proposing a bill that would prohibit abortions in the city after 20 weeks. Given his newfound concern for what happens here, D.C. voting rights advocacy organization DC Vote is pushing residents to show up at his office tomorrow from noon to 1:30 p.m. to complain about, well, just about anything else:

Representative Trent Franks (R-AZ) has decided he wants to play a big role in local DC affairs. Right now he is pushing for H.R. 3803, a bill that would ban almost all abortions in Washington, DC after 20 weeks of pregnancy. He is holding a hearing on the bill Thursday, May 17th.

If “Mayor” Franks is so eager to interfere in our community, let’s drop by his office to tell him what really needs fixing.

Come out to “Mayor” Franks’ DC Constituent Services Day at 12 noon on Wednesday May 23. So far, we are planning to let him know about: pot holes, broken street lights, broken traffic lights, issues with street signs, problems with trash/recycling pick-up, permit issues, problems with car registration, the need for bike lanes, or any other problems you think the “Mayor” should worry about .

This isn’t the first time this has happened: back in 2007, residents called constituent concerns into the office of Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.) after he opined on the House floor that D.C. doesn’t need a voting representative since it has 535 members of Congress looking out for it.

Franks’ office is located at 2435 Rayburn House Office Building.
