The remaining signatures need to be turned in by the end of June; anti-same-sex marriage activists have said that they hope to gather 150,000 as a show of force for their cause.
Though same-sex marriage was signed into law earlier this year, it doesn’t become official until January 2013. If enough voters inveigh against it in November, the law will be scrapped. A recent poll found that a majority of Marylanders are in favor of same-sex marriage.
