It now looks like a November vote on same-sex marriage in Maryland is a certainty—the Post reports that opponents turned in 113,000 signatures yesterday, double the 55,000 needed to put marriage equality to a vote. They’re also not done, with June 30 being the deadline for signed petitions to be turned in.

Supporters of same-sex marriage seem to be focusing less on challenging signatures in petitions than on laying the groundwork for their campaign leading into the November vote. (Maryland residents will also vote on in-state tuition for the children of undocumented immigrants that complete high school in the state.)

A recent poll found that a majority of Marylanders favored same-sex marriage, and were passionate in support of the issue than opponents were against.
