There are some foods that, regardless of the time of year, are always welcome. Bacon and ice cream certainly fit that description. Who’s ever complained about too much ice cream or too much bacon? (Don’t answer that.)
And when these wonderful foods are paired, there are two immediate results: excitement and atherosclerosis. But let’s focus the former. On Thursday, Burger King will introduce nationwide the bacon ice cream sundae, a new concoction in which every advertised ingredient seems awesome.
The bacon sundae, which was test-marketed earlier this year in Nashville, Tenn., combines vanilla ice cream with fudge, caramel, bacon crumbles and a strip of bacon. It’s part of a revamped lineup from Burger King, the Associated Press reports. Since the start of the year, BK has also introduced new salads, smoothies, hamburgers and wraps. Eff that noise. All we heard was “bacon sundae.”
OK, fair warning. Like most fast-food items, Burger King’s bacon sundae might taste great, but it’s no good for your health. The 510-calorie dessert packs in 18 grams of fat and 61 grams of sugar. It’s also pretty high-concept for a fast-food dessert. Let’s face it, it’ll be hard to top the DIY simplicity of going to Wendy’s at 1 a.m. and ordering fries and a Frosty.
Still, bacon ice cream sundae! Is it Thursday yet? We might have to do a taste test later this week.
