McPherson Square is slowly recovering after taking a beating at the hands of Occupy D.C. activists, who camped there for four months until they were forcefully evicted by U.S. Park Police in February for violating anti-camping regulations.

So you could probably have forgiven some people from shaking their heads when a new group of occupiers showed up at McPherson yesterday, promising to take over the park again. Did they plan on camping again, and risk the ire of the Park Police? Few would say.

This morning, though, only three tents were present at the park—and none of them were occupied. After the eviction earlier this year, Park Police said that tents could remain, provided no one slept in them. A few did stay, but earlier this month the last of the tents were knocked over and what little was left of Occupy D.C.’s presence disappeared from the park. (One group of occupiers has started using a nearby office for its activities.)

Maybe the occupiers realized that camping on what is expected to be the hottest weekend of the year is a bad idea.
