It probably feels like years since streetscape and sidewalk work has been taking place along 18th Street in Adams Morgan—it has been. But today marks something of a milestone for the neighborhood and nightlife destination—the work is done.

The project’s community liaison tweeted today that final paving and line-striping along 18th Street was taking place, marking the last bit of work on the $6.5 million, 15-month-long project.

As part of the upgrades, sidewalks were widened substantially—more space for drunks!—the road we rebuilt and repaved and new streetlights were placed along 18th Street. Seventy-one Adams Morgan-branded bike racks were also added on the sidewalks, and sharrows added on the roadway.

A similar project recently kicked off on U Street between Ninth and 14th Streets NW.
