Anyone worrying that Robert Griffin III would continue to be a no-show training camp can rest easier. The rookie quarterback announced this morning that he has reached a deal with the “Washington” Redskins for a four-year contract that will pay him $21 million.
Griffin had missed rookie workouts yesterday and Tuesday, being prohibited from attending because of his lack of a contract. But just before 8 a.m. today, Griffin tweeted out the news that Redskins loyalists have been ginning to hear:
Well people….It’s Time to go to Work!!!Off the unemployment line and oh yea HTTR!!!!

The contract, the Post reports, features an optional fifth year and a signing bonus of $14 million. Players selected in the first round of the NFL Draft—Griffin was the second pick overall in April—are generally among the last batch of rookies to sign contracts. The draft’s No. 1 player, Andrew Luck, has not yet inked a deal with the Indianapolis Colts.
But now Griffin can report to training camp, where the Heisman Trophy winner will begin preparing for his role as the Redskins starting quarterback come opening day.
