Photo by Dan MacyPolice roped off a section of Gallery Place ahead of this morning’s rush hour after a physical altercation between two men resulted in one accidentally shooting himself in the leg.
The fight broke out about 5:30 a.m. inside the McDonalds restaurant at Gallery Place, on the 600 block of F Street NW, and later spilled outside.
As the brawl continued, one of the men was accidentally shot with a gun he was carrying, a Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman said. He was taken to a nearby hospital, while the other man was arrested, police said.
The scene made the rush hour a bit more hectic than usual, with police cordoning off the 700 block of Seventh Street NW as commuters began flowing through the area.
