Prince George’s County Police are investigating an apparent homicide after a student at Central High School in Capitol Heights was shot and killed this morning while he was walking to school.
Markel Norman Ross, 18, was discovered about 6:50 a.m. on the 6100 block of Old Central Avenue, a police spokeswoman said. Ross was a junior at high school about a mile away on Cabin Branch Road.
Officers responding to the scene found Ross on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, police said. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Ross was a resident of the 400 block of Abel Avenue in Capitol Heights, about a 1.6-mile walk from Central High School.
Police are still investigating Ross’ death, and have not yet offered a description of any potential suspects.
