Grand Theft Auto features a lot of fun and speedy vehicles to swipe, but anyone who has ever played the shoot-and-steal video game series will confess that the funnest act of larceny is making off with a police cruiser.

Alexandria police lost—and later recovered—two vehicles last week when they were stolen. The first theft happened Thursday, when a cruiser was taken overnight from the 2700 block of Duke Street. The 2006 Ford Crown Victoria had been left parked and locked. It turned up the following day in Fort Washington, Md., but police the found that a Panasonic laptop and Remington 870 shotgun had been taken.

The second theft happened the next night, when a 2007 Crown Victoria was reported missing at 4:35 a.m. Saturday. It turned up soon after in Northeast D.C. when it was spotted by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Alexandria police have not reported any suspects or arrests in either case.
