When you wake up tomorrow, it could well be a pretty normal day. But if you live in Maryland, it could well mean that you can finally marry that person you’ve long loved.

At 12:01 a.m. tomorrow same-sex marriage will become legal in Maryland, almost a year after the General Assembly gave approval to marriage equality (after punting on it the year prior) and close to two months after voters resoundingly supported it in a statewide referendum. Maryland counties have been empowered to hand out marriage licenses to same-sex couples since December 6, so for those who got them, they will be considered legally wed at the at the stroke of midnight tonight.

Maryland joins D.C. in allowing same-sex marriage, the only two jurisdictions south of the Mason-Dixon Line to do so.
