Photo via ShutterstockMaryland towns are getting kinda crazy! Only weeks after nearby Damacus lifted a longstanding prohibition on the sale of booze at restaurants, Gaithersburg has reversed a ban on fortunetelling, reports the Gazette:
The crystal ball has cleared for fortunetellers in Gaithersburg.
The mayor and council voted unanimously Tuesday night to lift the city’s ban on fortunetelling businesses and to allow practitioners to operate in specific city zones.
Montgomery County Law had once prohibited fortunetelling businesses. After a Maryland Court of Appeals ruling struck down the law on the basis of free speech in June 2010, the county reversed its ban. Gaithersburg’s city code had its own form of the ban.
And just in time for the Super Bowl!
