Forecast map via the National Weather Service

We know that D.C. is a divided city. It’s divided by crime, rental prices, income, and much more.

But according to the National Weather Service’s most recent snow total estimates for the storm expected to hit tonight and tomorrow, we’re also a city divided by meteorological conditions.

The map above shows a line cutting the city in half; D.C.’s eastern neighborhoods can expect between six to eight inches of snow, while those in the western parts of town can expect between eight and 10 inches. (A zoomed-in portion of the map is at right.) One City? Apparently not to the weather gods.

It’s not unheard of for local weather systems to be extremely localized; summer thunderstorms, for one, can rage over one part of town while merely drizzling down on others.
