“It is so great to be here in Washington, D.C. Not really.”
Those words were spoken a few minutes ago at the Conservative Political Action Conference by South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley in her remarks introducing 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. Of course, such a line might be catnip to the Washington-hating, Boomtown-bashing crowds at CPAC, but there’s one little, nagging problem.
Haley isn’t in D.C., she’s in Oxon Hill, Md., where CPAC is taking place at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, the sprawling hotel that anchors notable fake place National Harbor. It’s not in D.C. Hell, you can’t even get National Harbor on the same map as all of the District without zooming out really far.
See? It’s kind of far!
