Metro riders taking the Green or Yellow lines should expect additional waits of 30 minutes following an earlier delay related to a malfunctioning train at the Shaw-Howard station.
Trains were briefly running along a single track after a train suffered what Metro spokesman Dan Stessel calls “just a brake problem,” causing severe delays for morning commuters passing through the heart of D.C. The Branch Avenue-bound train broke down about 8:10 a.m.
Trains started moving along both tracks about 9:10 a.m., but the transit system expects half-hour delays will continue for a little while. One alternate route being suggested is taking the Red Line from Fort Totten to Gallery Place.
