Hope you didn’t want to be spend too much time outside today, people of D.C.

The Air Quality Index for the Washington Metropolitan Area is forecast to be 101 today, which can be potentially unhealthy for sensitive groups (USG). Active children and adults, as well as people with asthma and other lung issues, shouldn’t stay outdoors for too long. 101 is at the bottom of the USG scale, so don’t panic too much.

The AQI is forecast to reach 104 tomorrow.

D.C. is currently experiencing its first heat and humidity wave of the year. For the secret reptilians out there, this is a welcome development. But for those of us who enjoy reasonable temperatures, this is the beginning of a long summer of complaining about the weather in this city that wasn’t actually built on a swamp but sure feels like it.
