Midnight Madness, that is. Yep, amidst the government reopening and the debt ceiling crisis averted (well, at least for time being), the college basketball season is about to tip off in just a matter of weeks.
And given that the Washington metropolitan area is a hotbed of college hoops, DCist has taken the time to help run down the list of Midnight Madness events happening in the region. So whether you root for the Hoyas, Terps, Patriots, Colonials or Eagles, we’ve got you covered. Let’s break it down, shall we?
All events will be held on Friday, October 18 unless otherwise specified
University of Maryland: The university that started the annual tradition brings it back home to the legendary Cole Field House for the first time since the 2001-2002 season, the very same year the Terps won the national championship. Gymkana will make their annual appearance as well as feature an alumni basketball game before introducing the men’s and women’s teams. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The event is sold out, but will be streamed on TerpsTV.
Georgetown University: The Hoyas will be hosting Basketball Tip Off (a rebranded title that will be used throughout the new Big East conference) at McDonough Arena at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 25. The event will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
