Four years ago today, Washington was buried under over a foot of snow. We called it Snowpocalypse, and it was glorious. This winter, D.C. has seen just 1.5 inches of snow. We could call this a Snought*, but we won’t.

Will we make up the deficit this Christmas? Probably not, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Weather Channel and Capital Weather Gang. From AccuWeather: “As the weather pattern flip-flops from a cold and snowy one to a warmer one leading up to Christmas, major cities along the I-95 corridor from Boston to New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., are not likely to see a white Christmas.”

The city needs to invest in a few of these.

*That’s a portmanteau of snow and drought.
