*Note: This story is extremely disturbing.*

A 21-year-old D.C. woman was arrested yesterday for killing her newborn son in November.

According to a release from the Metropolitan Police Department, police were called to the 6400 block of 14th Street NW to investigate at 11:15 a.m. on November 28.

Upon arrival, they located an unconscious baby male. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and did not find any signs of life. The decedent’s remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending autopsy.

The Washington Post fills in the horrific details: that the infant was dismembered.

The affidavit states that the sister came out of the bathroom and sat down on a bed. Police went into the bathroom and reported a gruesome discovery. The court documents state that an infant, with the umbilical cord still attached, was in the bathtub in about an inch of blood and water. Police also said there was a pair of scissors in a sink.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner yesterday ruled baby John Doe’s death as Asphyxia of Multifactorial Etiology Dismemberment. Lillian Alvarado, 21, was arrested and charged with first degree murder and cruelty to children.
