A person was struck by a train at the Rhode Island Avenue Metro station this afternoon.

Metro spokesperson Philip Stewart tells DCist that the person was struck shortly after 3 p.m. and that it appears she intentionally jumped in front of the train. Right now, the incident is a rescue operation. The adult female was conscious and breathing before being transported, according to Metro Transit Police.
Trains are single tracking through the Rhode Island Avenue station, causing delays on the Red Line. Inbound trains will skip the Rhode Island Avenue and NoMa stations to reduce delays. We’ll update when we learn more.
