The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday morning in Southeast.

According to police, officers responded to a call for reports of gunshots at approximately 12:27 a.m at the 1200 block of Eaton Road SE. When they arrived, they found an adult male, later identified as 35-year-old Derrick Eugene Williams, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.
