To encourage people who can’t put down their laptops for one minute to at least work outside and breathe the fresh air, the NoMa BID launched a free outdoor WiFi network today, the first neighborhood to do so in D.C.
“The first phase of this new service has been installed by the NoMa BID, and additional phases are planned,” a release states. “As the first neighborhood in Washington, D.C., to offer free outdoor WiFi, the NoMa BID is providing this interactive amenity to make NoMa even livelier.”
The system can be accessed by clicking “NoMa Connected.” Currently, service runs down First Street NE from H Street to New York Avenue, on a stretch of North Capitol, and a few blocks in between. A map of the planned coverage can be seen here.
The D.C. government currently offers free public WiFi in locations across the city.
