PROHIBITION: Which 14th Street restaurant used to be the site of a liquor ring that posed as a rental car agency? Find out the answer and much more as “Jazzy Nights in Shaw: A Stroll Through 1920s Washington” returns. Last week’s walking tour was sold out, but there are a few open spots left for tonight’s which will take you around the neighborhood as you learn all about D.C. during the prohibition era. Yes, locals do go on this tour. Tour begins at the Howard Theatre (620 T Street NW) and ends with a happy hour at Right Proper Brewing Company (624 T Street NW). 6-8 p.m. $35-45

HEAVY METAL: When is the last time you heard heavy metal played in a museum? Get your heavy-metal-music-in-a-museum fix at this month’s edition of Corcoran Uncorked, which celebrates the museum’s newest exhibition American Metal: The Art of Albert Paley. Grab drinks from the cash bar, listen to heavy metal classics, and watch a live welding demonstration. Corcoran Gallery of Art (500 Seventeenth Street NW) 5-9 p.m. $12

JANE AUSTEN: Last week’s screening was rained out, but the weather finally looks good today. Now you can watch the first of three screenings of films based on Jane Austen novels. Tonight, watch Gwyneth Paltrow in Emma. Dumbarton House (2715 Q Street NW) Seating begins at 7:30 p.m. Movie begins at sundown. Goodies Frozen Custard truck will have treats for sale. Free.

ART: It’s the second week of Transformer’s five-week series of Summer Socials, mini-exhibitions of 2D work from the FlatFile program. Tonight is the opening reception for Whine with Amy. Artist Amy Braden will lead a talk about her work. Gelato, espresso, and pastries from Dolcezza will be served. Transformer (1404 P Street NW) 6-8 p.m. Free.
