Thanks to a new permit, Atlas Brew Works will serve pints at its first happy hour this Friday.

“We are excited to now offer our guests a pint of Atlas beer which they can enjoy in the brewery,” Atlas CEO Justin Cox said in a release. “We’re glad the D.C. Council took notice of a need in our brewing community and worked with us to find a solution.”

D.C. breweries can now apply for an “on-site sales and consumption permit with the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration,” meaning visitors can consume pints in addition to the previously permitted free tastings. DC Brau’s Brandon Skall, whose company is now offering pints, called the permit a “big change” for local breweries.

Tasting room hours at Atlas, located on West Virginia Avenue NE, will be expanded to 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
