TUESDAY

Puff Pieces, Plains, Jack on Fire, and Hemlines @ Paperhaus. 8pm, donations accepted. Inaccessible venue. All ages.

Consider this an all-star lineup (and perhaps an In It Together Fest preview?!?) Although these bands don’t necessarily match genre-wise (the bluesy pop of Birmingham’s Plains versus Puff Pieces’ noise punk), their social sensibilities could combine to create an all-powerful progressive crew of super friends. At least, Puff Pieces, Jack on Fire (you may know them as the “Burn Down the Brixton” band), and Hemlines produce enough firepower to blow out the office windows of urban developers, congressmen, defense contractors, and other lame-os. —Tori Kerr

THURSDAY

Claude VonStroke, Mark Starr, Nacey @ U Street Music Hall. 10:30 p.m., $15. 18+. Accessible venue.

The Detroit raised, California based producer Claude VonStroke (née Barclay Crenshaw) has spent the better part of the last 10 years using his relentless energy and quirky music sensibilities to remove the scowls from the folks in the VIP section. The Dirtybird Records bossman who has made his career having fun—gasp!—will take the decks at U Street Music Hall behind his soon-to-be-released Barrump EP, a funky, selection of tech-house cuts that are uniquely his own. I’d also expect a lot of music from the rest of the Dirtybird roster and to leave with a smile on your face. Mark Starr and D.C.’s own Nacey will open the show. —Andy Hess

SUNDAY

The Maine, Real Friends, Knuckle Puck, and The Technicolors @ 9:30 Club 7pm, $20. Accessible venue. All ages.

Pop-punk mania for twenty-something Warped Tour veterans and their high school-aged counterparts. Knuckle Puck deliver a bulletproof Taking Back Sunday cover band sound, while The Maine highlight the best of what the subgenre’s about. The club’s no crowd-surfing rules will truly be put to the test. A note to that night’s security team: rules are meant to be broken. —Tori Kerr

DC9: Natural Child and Dead Professional. 9pm, $10. Inaccessible venue. All ages.
