A visual metaphor for this heat, or something. Photo by Nikoo.

“Ugh,” you probably groaned to yourself as you set foot outside today for the first time. “Ugh,” is what you’ll probably continue to groan to yourself each subsequent day for the next couple of weeks as you set foot outside for the first time.

According to the National Weather Service, the current heat wave we’re experiencing is expected to continue for a couple more weeks. “The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center favors above normal temperatures in both in its 6-10 and 8-14 day outlooks for our area – due to a persistent area of high pressure over the Southeast that will act like pump that draws warm, humid air over the region,” Capital Weather Gang reports.

So far, June is proving to be a worthy following act of May’s impressive, record-setting month of warm weather. National Airport has tracked 13 90 degree days thus far this month, which, as CWG points out, is the “third most on record so early in the year.”

Like I said, “ugh.”
