>> Brazilian vocalist Cissa Paz takes the stage on Thursday at the Bossa Bistro & Lounge. 9:30 p.m. Tickets $5.
>> Joyce Moreno is a celebrated composer, vocalist and guitarist from Brazil. While she has mastered the standard repertoire from that country’s rich musical tradition, her most notable contribution is as a songwriter, where she was among the first artists to write in a first-person voice from a woman’s perspective. Moreno will play four nights of 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Blues Alley, beginning on Thursday. Tickets $25 plus minimum and surcharge.
>> Clark Terry was a gifted trumpet player who began his career playing with big bands of Count Basie and Duke Ellington, but it was as a music educator that Terry’s true contribution lies. He passed away in February at age 94, but the tributes continue. On Friday at Jazz Night in Southwest, trumpeter Thad Wilson leads a cohort of local mainstays in tribute to Terry. 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets $5. The following day, the venue will host a free 1 p.m. screening of the documentary, Clark Terry: Keep on Keepin’ On.
>> The Nils Berg Cinemascope is a Swedish jazz trio, basing their music and performances around a movie projector. The intriguing band plays the House of Sweden on Friday (6:30 p.m. Tickets $15-$35) and Dupont Circle on Saturday (1 p.m. Free). They will be sharing both stages with The Splendor, a jazz quartet out of Sweden. Part of the Nordic Jazz Festival.
>> Integriti Reeves is a talented young vocalist who is quickly becoming an important part of the local jazz community. An alum of Ellington and Peabody, she has served as an Artist-in-Residence at Strathmore and has performed alongside a number of high-profile musicians. Reeves will lead her band on Friday and Saturday at Bohemian Caverns. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets $18 in advance/$23 at the door.
>> Local pianist Mark Meadows is steadily increasing in stature and has received critical praise for his most recent album, Somethin’ Good. The D.C. native will lead a quartet on Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz. 9 and 11 p.m. sets. Tickets $15 plus minimum and surcharge.
>> Pieces of a Dream helped pioneer smooth jazz and will be at The Birchmere on Saturday. 7:30 p.m. Tickets $35.
>> The D.C. Jazz Singers Jam has had trouble finding a permanent home, but now it looks like Jojo’s will be the gathering spot for local vocalists on Sunday afternoons.
>> Smooth jazz bassist Avon Lucas will bring his ensemble to the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club on Sunday. Joining him will be vocalist Lori Williams, a regular on the local circuit. 7:30 p.m. Tickets $20 plus minimum and surcharge.
>> Veteran area saxophonist Marty Nau takes the stage on Sunday at Twins Jazz. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets $10 plus minimum and surcharge.
>> The Birchmere hosts yet another long-running smooth jazz act on Monday as The Rippingtons take the stage for a 7:30 p.m. show.
>> Miho Hazama is a pianist originally from Tokyo and also an award winning composer. She will be a featured guest of the Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra on Monday as it plays selections from her critically acclaimed songbook. 8-11 p.m. Tickets $10.
>> Rodney Richardson is a D.C. native who went to high school at Ellington and then went on to study music at Howard. He spent the last couple of years in Chicago for family reasons, but the prodigal son returns and will be at Blues Alley on Monday to celebrate the release of his new recording. The EP is a collection of songs he composed while living in Chicago. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets $20 plus minimum and surcharge.
>> The New Orleans Swamp Donkeys are a versatile group of young musicians who play traditional jazz, blues, vaudeville, original music, modern jazz adaptations, and many other jazz and New Orleans-derived styles. They will play a 7:30 p.m. show at The Hamilton on Tuesday. Tickets $15-$20.
>> Christie Dashiell is one of the District’s most gifted vocalists, and she first made a splash as a soloist with Howard University’s Afro Blue as they made an impressive run on NBC’s The Sing Off. She is June’s artist-in-residence at Bohemian Caverns and concludes her run of Tuesdays with 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. sets. Tickets $10 in advance/$20 at the door.
