Metropolitan Police Department officers found a woman who was stabbed to death in a Glover Park residential building this morning after dozens of residents were evacuated due to a bomb threat. Police arrested a person of interest at the scene.

Officers were called to the 4000 block of Tunlaw Road NW around 6 a.m., following a call of a bomb threat, NBC 4 reports. Residents were sent outside because of a fire alarm. “We had no idea why” it went off, one resident told NBC 4, adding that she was shocked to hear about the crime in her Upper Northwest neighborhood, “You don’t expect it out here,” she said.

According to MPD crime data, homicides are up three percent compared to this time last year, largely due to an increase in Ward 7.
