Metro has maintenance planned for three of its six rail lines this weekend. Riders using the Red, Yellow, and Green Lines are off the hook. Those traveling on the remaining lines will wait about 15 to 20 minutes for service. The Orange and Silver Lines are experiencing delays due to the second “surge” of Metro’s SafeTrack plan, which includes the temporary closure of the Potomac Avenue and Stadium Armory stations. This morning, Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld said that this is one of the most difficult portions of the line to work on as well as one of the system’s busiest.
Red Line

Orange Line
Buses replace trains between Eastern Market and Minnesota Ave. | 7:00 a.m. Saturday through closing Sunday
SafeTrack Surge #2 line segment shutdown between Eastern Market & Minnesota Ave/Benning Road runs through system closing Sunday, July 3.
Orange Line trains will operate:
- Between Vienna & Eastern Market: trains every 15 minutes
- Between Minnesota Avenue & New Carrollton: trains every 15 minutes
From 7:00 a.m. Saturday through closing Sunday, buses will replace Orange Line trains between Eastern Market and Minnesota Avenue stations. During this time, Potomac Avenue and Stadium-Armory stations will be closed. Please allow additional time for shuttle bus service.
Free shuttle bus service will operate between Eastern Market and Minnesota Avenue, making intermediate stops at Potomac Avenue and Stadium-Armory. Please allow 15 minutes of travel time for each station stop.
Last Train Times: The last Orange Line train of the night from New Carrollton will depart 30 minutes earlier than normal to allow for shuttle bus connections. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, the last train will depart New Carrollton at 11:06 p.m.
ALL customers traveling through the shutdown zone will tap out and back in on either side of the bus bridge. Customers will be charged as a single continuous trip.
Silver Line
Buses replace trains between Eastern Market & Benning Road | 7:00 a.m. Saturday through closing Sunday

Silver Line trains will operate:
- Between Wiehle-Reston East & Eastern Market: trains every 15 minutes
- Between Benning Road & Largo Town Center: trains every 15 minutes
From 7:00 a.m. Saturday through closing Sunday, buses will replace Silver Line trains between Eastern Market and Benning Road stations. During this time, Potomac Avenue and Stadium-Armory stations will be closed. Please allow additional time for shuttle bus service.
Free shuttle bus service will operate between Eastern Market and Benning Road stations with intermediate stops at Stadium-Armory and Potomac Avenue. Please add up to 10 minutes of travel time for each station stop.
Last Train Times: The last train of the night from Largo Town Center will depart 30 minutes earlier than normal to allow for shuttle bus connections. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, the last train will leave Largo Town Center at 10:53 p.m.

Blue Line
Blue Line trains operate between Franconia-Springfield & Arlington Cemetery only | 7:00 a.m. Saturday through closing Sunday

Blue Line trains will operate:
- Until 10:00 p.m., Between Franconia-Springfield & Arlington Cemetery only every 15 minutes
- Between 10:00 p.m. and closing, between Franconia-Springfield & Pentagon only every 20 minutes
Note:
- There will be NO rail or bus service between Arlington Cemetery and Rosslyn.
- Passengers traveling to stations between Rosslyn and Eastern Market should use Yellow Line trains and transfer to Orange or Silver Line trains at L’Enfant Plaza.
- Silver Line trains provide service between Benning Rd, Capitol Heights, Addison Rd, Morgan Blvd and Largo Town Center stations.
