One person has died after a vehicle rear-ended a Metrobus this afternoon. The incident took place on the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue SE. D.C. Police were alerted around 2:50 p.m., according to an MPD spokesperson.

Two people were in the car, a D.C. Fire and EMS spokesperson told DCist. The second passenger has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Eight people were on the bus, according to a tweet from FEMS. Officials are currently assessing them for minor injuries.

D.C. Police has shut down Alabama Avenue between Good Hope Road and Naylor Road SE, according to a tweet.
