This weekend, Metrorail riders should prepare for three station closures—one on the Red Line and two on the Orange Line.

Metro is shutting down Woodley Park station for escalator repairs. One escalator “is currently barricaded by plywood due to a long-term replacement project,” according to a WMATA release. The other two escalators have to be turned off while the repairs are underway, which means none will be operational. Because the station is so far underground, it will be closed for safety concerns. Free shuttle buses will run between Woodley Park and Cleveland Park stations.

Meanwhile, Safetrack’s ninth surge entails the closure of Vienna and Dunn Loring stations this weekend. Buses will get passengers between Vienna and West Falls Church.

The remaining four lines—Silver, Blue, Yellow, and Green—will operate at regular weekend intervals.

Red Line

Trains every 6-20 minutes | 7:00 a.m. Saturday until Closing Sunday

From 7:00 a.m. Saturday through closing Sunday:

  • Woodley Park station will be closed to allow for escalator work. Red Line trains will travel through but will not stop at Woodley Park. Free shuttle buses will operate between Woodley Park and Cleveland Park stations.

  • Single tracking between Silver Spring & Glenmont to allow for communication cable installation.

Red Line trains will operate:

  • Between Shady Grove & Silver Spring: every 12-15 minutes with additional trains between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

  • Shuttle trains will operate between Silver Spring & Glenmont every 20 minutes. Transfer at Silver Spring to continue trip.

Saturday 8:00 p.m. to close Single tracking between Medical Center & Grosvenor to allow for preventative maintenance. All trains will board on the Shady Grove side of the platform.

Orange Line

Buses replace trains between Vienna & West Falls Church | 7:00 a.m. Saturday until closing Sunday

From 7:00 a.m. Saturday through closing Sunday, buses will replace trains between Vienna and West Falls Church. Please add 12-15 minutes of travel time for each station stop.

Orange Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals between West Falls Church and New Carrollton.

Last Train Times:

  • The last eastbound train of the night from West Falls Church will depart at regular time. The last train will leave West Falls Church at 11:32 p.m.

  • The last westbound train of the night from New Carrollton will depart at regular time. The last train will leave New Carrollton at 11:36 p.m.
