As the D.C. Council urges WMATA to restore late-night rail service next spring, the transit system continues to hit passengers with delays due to maintenance work. And this weekend, Metrorail riders should prepare for slowdowns on all six lines.

Safetrack’s 42-day ninth surge is shutting down Vienna and Dunn Loring stations again this weekend. This means that buses will get passengers between Vienna and West Falls Church, and Orange Line trains will operate every 20 minutes between West Falls Church and New Carrollton.

Silver, Blue, Yellow, and Green Line trains will also run every 20 minutes, and Red Line trains will operate a bit more frequently at every 8 to 16 minutes.

Red Line

Trains every 8-16 minutes | 10:00 p.m. Friday until Closing Sunday

Single tracking between Grosvenor & Twinbrook to allow for concrete column repair.

Red Line trains will operate:

  • Between Shady Grove & Glenmont: every 16 minutes.
  • Between Grosvenor & Silver Spring: every 8-10 minutes between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Orange Line

Buses replace trains between Vienna & West Falls Church | 7:00 a.m. Saturday until closing Sunday

From 7:00 a.m. Saturday through closing Sunday,
buses will replace trains between Vienna and West Falls Church. Please add 12-15 minutes of travel time for each station stop.

Orange Line trains will operate every 20 minutes between West Falls Church and New Carrollton.

Last Train Times:

  • The last eastbound train of the night from West Falls Church will depart at regular time. The last train will leave West Falls Church at 11:32 p.m.
  • The last westbound train of the night from New Carrollton will depart at regular time. The last train will leave New Carrollton at 11:36 p.m.

Silver Line

Trains every 20 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East & Ballston only | 7:00 a.m. Saturday until closing Sunday

Silver Line trains will operate every 20 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only. Customers traveling to/from other stations should use Orange and/or Blue line trains to complete their trip. At Ballston, transfer between Silver and Orange line trains on the same platform.

Blue Line

Trains every 20 minutes | 10:00 p.m. Friday until closing Sunday

Blue Line trains will single track between:

  • Addison Road & Largo Town Center to allow for communication cable installation.
  • Pentagon City & Arlington Cemetery to allow for emergency call box and blue light replacement.

Yellow Line

Trains every 20 minutes between Huntington & Fort Totten | 10:00 p.m. Friday until closing Sunday

Single tracking between Pentagon City & L’Enfant Plaza to allow for emergency call box and blue light replacement.

Green Line

Trains every 20 minutes | 10:00 p.m. Friday until closing Sunday

Single tracking between Navy Yard & Anacostia to allow for platform lighting repair.
