A day before he will be sworn in as the next president of the United States, Donald Trump arrived this afternoon in Washington D.C. with his wife Melania on a military plane at Joint Base Andrews.
Three of his children, Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka, along with their families, were also aboard, according to Reuters.
The president-elect headed to the International Trump Hotel on Pennsylvania Ave. to speak at a luncheon for the leadership of his Presidential Inaugural Committee. The hotel opened this fall at the Old Post Office building. It’s blocks away from the White House, where he will soon reside, and represents one of the many conflicts-of-interest from his sprawling business interests, most of which he still has not disclosed.
He has spent most of his time since the election in Trump Tower, meeting with politicians, entertainers, and (once) the press, ensnarling midtown Manhattan traffic and wracking up a high security bill for New York City. His wife, Melania, will not stay in D.C. after the inauguration.
Before he left for D.C., Trump tweeted:
Getting ready to leave for Washington, D.C. The journey begins and I will be working and fighting very hard to make it a great journey for..
