Update: It looks like all of the tickets have now been snagged.
Original: A small number of advanced tickets to the National Museum of African American History and Culture are still up for grabs following a service glitch this morning.
The museum released May passes at 9 a.m. But when folks jumped online, they reported a series of technical issues for hours. Many people eventually scored tickets.
The museum has since released a statement saying: “The Smithsonian apologizes for the inconvenience to our visitors who tried to obtain free passes for May today. There has been a service problem with a data center serving our timed-pass provider. A limited number of passes remain for May.”
It currently looks like six days (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) are still available online.
There are also other ways to get tickets. Smithsonian spokesperson Linda St Thomas tells DCist that people “have had good luck” with same-day registration “and even walking up Mondays through Fridays.”
Visitors can obtain the online same-day passes beginning at 6:30 a.m. And a limited number of walk-up passes (one per person) are distributed on weekdays at 1 p.m.
