MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6
BASKETBALL: Go ahead and jump on the bandwagon—the Wizards are currently third place in the Eastern Conference. Tonight, they host the defending NBA champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers. (Verizon Center, 7 p.m. $35+)
THE BEATLES: In November, Scott Frieman took you inside Abbey Road Studios to deconstruct The White Album. Tonight, for one night only, watch Frieman deconstruct Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. (E Street Cinema, 7 p.m. $15)
NOVELS VS. FILM: Do you prefer the movie or the book? Mike Canning thinks I should not be asking you that question. In Novels and Film: Like Apples and Oranges Canning uses Moby Dick, The Grapes of Wrath and To Kill a Mockingbird as examples in his discussion about why we should stop judging movies based on the books they originated from. THEATRE: “WARNING: this show may cause discomfort and nausea to those with undiagnosed white male entitlement.” Ism: A Tragicomedy features women of color using dramatic and comedic sketches to share their perspectives on identity, racism, sexism, and more. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 7
PG FILM: Parental Guidance at Suns Cinema features one of your favorite childhood classics (the chosen film shall be a surprise) with live commentary by local comedians (Suns Cinema, 8:30 p.m.)
ANIMATED FILM: The live-action version of the manga series Ghost In The Shell starring Scarlett Johansson arrives to theaters March 31. Tonight, watch the 1995 animated version. In Japanese with English subtitles.

FRENCH FILM: The Washington Jewish Film Festival and the Alliance Française of Washington, DC co-present a screening of My Shortest Love Affair, the story of “a self-absorbed college professor” and “a moody but refined manuscript editor” who reconnect twenty years after their love affair. ZINES: DC Zinefest hosts a fundraising event to raise money for print stipends. No Love Lost and No Love Found will feature speakers sharing essays, poetry, love letters, and more. (The Potter’s House, 7-9 p.m. $7-10)

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8
GRAND OPENING: AR Workshop, the boutique workshop that offers classes and sells retail items used in photoshoots, currently has locations in Colorado, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. To celebrate the opening of their newest location in Old Town Alexandria, they are hosting a Grand Opening Launch Party, where guests will sip on winter cocktails while checking out sample projects and shopping for home decor gifts and accessories. MOVIE SOUNDTRACK: Last month The Adam Levowitz Orchestra treated an audience to the best music from Quentin Tarantino films. This month, they’ll entertain guests to hit songs from the The Blues Brothers. P.S. we hear the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack is up next. (The Howard Theatre, 8 p.m. $15-25)
PETER PAN: Pay-what-you-can to travel to Neverland. The Constellation Theatre Company’s production of Peter and the Starcatcher begins Thursday and runs through March 12. (8:30 p.m., door sales begin at 7:30 p.m.)
CELEBRITY DIVORCE: Laugh at the “fortunate ones’ misfortunes” during the Power of Positive Drinking’s Celebrity Divorce themed comedy show. (Port City Brewing Company, 6-9 p.m. FREE)
