Plants, and the scientists who study them, have already told us that the District is weeks ahead of schedule for transitioning from winter to spring. Now, the Capital Weather Gang is predicting that temperatures will be milder-than-normal in March.
While the National Weather Service has yet to nail down its specifics for next month, the gang says that, according to several factors like dry soil and a powerful Pacific jet stream, temperatures will average four to six degrees warmer than normal (the average for March is 46.8 degrees).
There may be some colder days, though, so don’t expect to sip spring cocktails outdoors everyday of the month. But even if we see some flurries, the snowfall will likely not be measurable, according to CWG. Rainfall will be 0.5 to 1.5 inches below the normal 3.48 inch average.
This comes after a February filled with record-breaking warmth.
