Charlie the cat, Pancake the dog, and Thumper the rabbit are among the animals waiting to be adopted from the Humane Rescue Alliance’s D.C. shelters and foster homes.
This weekend, the alliance is celebrating National Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet Day by discounting adoption fees by 50 percent for these and all other dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and small animals in its care. Typically, these fees range from $25 to $125 for cats, $50 to $250 for dogs, and $10 to $45 for animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, and birds.
People can come to centers at 71 Oglethorpe Street NW and 1201 New York Avenue NE to check out the adoptable pets between noon and 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
