The pink elephant of Belgium’s Delirium beer is setting up shop for the first time in the U.S.
The brand has chosen downtown Leesburg, Virginia as the first U.S. location for its Delirium Café bar and restaurant. It’s slated to open on May 15 at 101 South King St. and will featuring the full Delirium beer (brewed by Huyghe Brewery) lineup along with more than 300 global and local brews with 26 on tap. Delirium Cafe started in Brussels and currently has 16 locations worldwide.
The cafe will be helmed by general manager Curtis Allred, a certified sommelier and cicerone. He’ll be joined by local artist and beer lover Aislin Kavaldjian, who’s worked previously at Lost Rhino and Old Ox brewing in Ashburn.
“I hope to bring a sophisticated, passionate, and fun culture to the café,” Kavaldjian said in a release.
On the menu, expect a range of Belgian and American fare including fries, bar snacks like stuffed mushrooms and mac and cheese; heartier sandwiches and entrees like a pork belly club; and a selection of mussels in varieties like chorizo with mole spice and lemon pepper with curried dates.
Regular customers will also have the opportunity to purchase an annual membership for a beer locker that will be stocked with exclusive releases throughout the year.
Leesburg might seem like a rural spot for an international brand to set up shop, but the cafe will have plenty of company when it opens thanks to Loudoun County’s robust craft beer scene. It’ll be another destination along with tasting rooms at spots like Vanish, Crooked Run, and Ocelot breweries.
“When we decided to bring Delirium Café to the area, we knew we had something special,” Allred said. “We didn’t realize how much support was there not just from the beer community, but how overwhelming it’s been from all facets of our community.”
